Week 6: The importance of transition in children's lives

In our final week looking at The Six Principles of Nurture, we have been talking about what 'transition' means. We have thought about what transitions are, what transitions we have already made and how we feel about them.

Year 6 have been specifically thinking about transition when they move to their Secondary schools in September.

Year 5 have made a short video to go with their thoughts on Transition. You can see have they say "hey" their way by looking at the following clip.

Year 4 have tacked this principle from 2 directions. In their PSHE lesson, they thought about how they have transitioned from being a baby or toddler to now and what they might be like when they grow up. They also acknowledged that growing up can be exciting and scary (sometimes at the same time!)

They also thought about what transitions there are at school:

  • starting a new class

  • start and end of the day

  • starting a new lesson

  • after break and lunch

  • different adults teaching us

  • start of term
