From the Classroom (Yellow)

Term 2 - Week 1 & 2

English - Balanced Argument

This term, Yellow class have written a balanced argument based on the brilliant book 'The Firework-Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman. After reading Chapter 4, we had a discussion 'Should Lila go to Mount Merapi?'.

We deconstructed an example of a balanced argument to find the features and understand the structure.

Then, the children did an amazing job coming up with arguments for and against her treacherous journey.

We did some short burst writing on fronted adverbials as we identified this as a key feature and finally, we created our very own arguments.

Here are some pictures of the process and some amazing examples of final pieces.

Term 1 : week 6
