Welcome to Red Class – 2025/26
I have been at Hawkhurst CofE Primary School for 14 years and am passionate about phonics, forest school and the outdoor environment. I am a classroom teacher as well as one of the Assistant Head Teachers and I enjoy reading, crafting, being outside and animals. I have a gorgeous cat called Lloyd and an adult son called Jack.
Mrs Harper, Mrs Griffen and I are looking forward to the children joining us in Red Class. The transition from the EYFS curriculum to National curriculum is a bit of a jump but we will be moving slowly from one to the other. They will continue to make learning fun with a mixture of practical and discovery activities as well as recording in their books. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss, ask and answer questions and share our general knowledge. In Red Class we embrace our individuality whilst also recognising that we are part of the class and we want to find out what everyone enjoys, has achieved and wants to aspire to.
I want to ensure that all children are settled and ready to continue their learning and that they continue to bond as a class remembering that behaviour and respect for each other help us to achieve our goals. Our lessons will take place indoors and outdoors using all of our school environment and visits to the village and surrounding attractions. We will be continuing with Forest School sessions, though these are reduced to once every 3 weeks but you will be notified when it is our session in the newsletter as usual.
