My name is Helen Webb and I am an Educational Psychologist for KCC Educational Psychology Service. I am the link Educational Psychologist or EP for a number of schools including Hawkhurst Primary. This means that Hawkhurst have a dedicated amount of time with the Kent Educational Psychology Service and we meet regularly to talk about how the time can be best used to support the children and their families as well as the staff at Hawkhurst.
What I do…
As an Educational Psychologist I apply psychology within the educational system including supporting schools such as Hawkhurst Primary. My work includes promoting an understanding of children's psychology and promoting better outcomes for vulnerable children and enabling them to express their own views on how their needs might be supported.
I work in different ways including:
-
consultation with teachers, parents or carers and other adults who work with children and young people
-
psychological assessments, advice and interventions
-
professional development and training
-
research and evaluation
My work as an Educational Psychologist means I am committed to:
-
listening very carefully
-
helping people to share stories
-
everyone being able to develop and learn
-
supporting others to recognise and develop personal resources
-
helping people to understand their feelings
-
starting from where people are
-
making quality assessments, observations and judgements have more validity with a natural setting
-
respecting every individual I have contact with
-
valuing the individual and valuing people's differences.
