Year 3 made origami butterflies, to start they were given very simple instructions such as 'Fold in half both ways.' 'Lift corner' but the children found it very confusing. 

They were then asked what would help and they said 'we need pictures'. Then, when pictures were introduced, they still needed support from an adult and they realised that although pictures helped some, it didn't help everyone. 

Finally, the adults demonstrated how to fold the paper into a butterfly and worked through the steps together so everyone could understand how we all learn differently and need different things to succeed.
