Welcome to Orange Class – 2025/26
Hello from Mrs Simmonds

My name is Mrs Simmonds and I am proud to have been a teacher here at Hawkhurst Primary School for 7 years. I am thrilled to be teaching Orange class this year, alongside Miss Hanson. I love to help children to develop a positive image of themselves as learners, and a 'can do' attitude. Those “lightbulb” moments, which make their faces light up with a smile when they realise they can do something, bring me such joy!. I especially love teaching Maths and English, and I have a keen interest in Science and RE. I will be teaching here three days a week and on the other 2 days, I am the Children and Youth Minister for Goudhurst and Kilndown, based at St. Mary's Church in Goudhurst. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Paediatric Cardiac Nurse Specialist at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital. I have 2 children, Samuel and Anabelle, and a black Labrador called Isla. I love walking (I'm a Lake District girl) and wild swimming, whatever the time of year! When I'm not at work, on a mountain or in the sea are my favourite places to be!

Hello from Miss Hanson

Hello, I am Miss Hanson. Some of my favourite things: Animal-Otters, Colour-Pink, Food-Ramen! It has been my privilege to have spent 8 years here at Hawkhurst Primary School and I am looking forward to be sharing Orange Class with Mrs Simmonds. My favourite thing about being a teacher? Easy! The Children! They have such a magical curiosity and it keeps me seeing things with fresh eyes. I love teaching English, History and Art but really, there aren't many subjects I don't like. At university, I studied drama, so I love giving children the opportunity to add performance into our curriculum as much as I can and all the staff know just how excited I am to be part of the Nativity crew again! Next year, I will be teaching Monday and Tuesday and the latter half of the week I am spending time with my one year old son, Bodhi and my very old cat, Harley. Like Mrs Simmonds, I am a water baby. If I am not at school, I am at the coast, paddling in the sea. I was lucky enough to live in Cornwall for my teenage years, so a pasty and a trip to Godrevy Beach is my idea of Heaven.
